tattoos 14 and 15 - being a country lovin' bleachers girly šŸ¤

...And she's back! Over the weekend, myself and my favourite tattoo artist were reunited at a beautiful new studio for my 14th and 15th tattoos (can you actually believe that because I cannot, not me who swore she was a 'one and done' girl just two short years ago)

This was my first tattoo session in six months, so I was definitely nervous, especially as I'm someone that knows the more frequently I get tattoos, the less nervous I feel, (like when I was pretty much going every week at the start of this year), but as always, from the second that I walked in and was surrounded by my wonderful besties at Studio Luna Nova, I was completely at ease.

I'll start with my 'IWGB' tattoo. This is a small tattoo just above my left wrist, which stands for 'I Wanna Get Better', which has always been one of my favourite songs by Bleachers. I've known that I've wanted this tattoo for a long time, but with my favourite artists moving into their own brand new studio, and my aversion to getting tattoos in the Summer as I find it more difficult to shield them from the sun, I ended up getting this tattoo a month after seeing Bleachers perform live in London, and needless to say, this song means even more to me now, so it was good that I waited, and I'm so thrilled and proud of my friends at Luna Nova for setting up their own studio.

This tattoo is a reminder to myself that I do want to get better, in more ways than one, particularly on my journey of healing. The song itself is a personal account on Jack Antonoff's journey with depression, grief and recovery, which is something I relate to quite heavily and the song has gotten me through a lot of hard times. To me, it's a song about the feeling of hope in spite of all of the failure and loss that we go through in our lives, something that I think a lot of us can relate to.

The song is from the album 'Strange Desire', and I managed to find Halfmoon Font on dafont, which I think looks pretty close to the one used on the album cover. I'm completely in love with its simplicity - sometimes it's the simple things that us help the most.

My 15th tattoo is an ode to my lil country loving heart, as it's an adorable cowboy hat with a love heart in the upper left corner. I grew up to the sounds of Dolly Parton, Patsy Cline, Loretta Lynn, Hank Williams, Tammy Wynette, Johnny Cash, Leroy Van Dyke, and so many others. Country and western music was played throughout the house at all times and it's the first genre of music that I fell in love with - the first song I ever learnt to sing was 'Jolene' by Dolly Parton. This style of music has been in my blood from the day I was born and it's something I'll never grow out of. I love my little stetson and I love that my adoration of country music has only evolved but never gone away, it's been such a constant in my life and now it's on my arm forever.

Both tattoos took half an hour in total which is super fast, and they were barely painful aside from some of the longer lines on rim of the cowboy hat, which is to be expected! I'm very much enjoying being a newly tattooed person again and as per usual, there will be more, so stay tuned.

As always, I've popped this into the 'tattoos' category on my blog, so feel free to have a scroll through that if you missed any of my previous rundowns of my tattoos.
