Tattoo #4: matching moon and saturn tattoos ☾🪐

Would you believe me if I told you that tattoo number 4 was actually booked and paid for on the same day as my third one, even though they ended up being a month apart due to scheduling? At this point, you probably would. I could walk around saying 'I have 3 tattoos' for a month before that number increased, which is the least amount of time I've ever had between sessions, and I can only put that down to being completely obsessed with the artist at my studio, (Lucile from Tattoo Crew London), and due to how special this one was to me, I knew I didn't want to wait too long for it.

If you know me, or my close friend Jade, well then you know that we love Taylor Swift. Always have done, absolutely always will. If you don't believe me, I can tell you that I have six more tattoos planned and four of them are Taylor Swift related - if anything, I'm shocked that it took me this long to get a Taylor tattoo when I've been getting tattoos for around 9 months, now. More so than that, Stephen and I 'tied the knot' via our handfasting ceremony to an instrumental version of her song 'invisible string', and you know what they say - if it's in your wedding, it's forever. A huge decision. The entirety of her 'folklore' album got me through some really tough times during lockdown last year when it was released, so it very quickly found a place in my heart so I knew I would end up with something from it as a tattoo someday.

Anyway, that's all the back story you need for this one to be honest. Jade and I love Taylor Swift, particularly the lyric 'love you to the moon and to saturn' from her song 'seven', since we've been very close for coming up to 8 years now, and we felt like it was about time that we made the switch from matching necklaces, (below - it's from Constellation Co on Etsy), to matching tattoos.

It was so, so much fun getting tattooed with her, and I really recommend doing the same with your closest friends, if you want to! I love that we both have one part of the moon/saturn, but the three stars are what bring the tattoos together and make them matchy matchy - that to me is really special because while we are both very similar, we are absolutely individuals and you wouldn't know it was a matching tattoo unless you knew the song/lyric, or saw us together and noticed how beautifully the stars bring it together in quite a subtle way. I love it.

I would say both of the tattoos took around twenty minutes each - I wouldn't say the pain scale was too high at all. Due to the angle of a wrist tattoo, we actually lay down while being tattooed which does make it very peaceful, actually. However, I would say that this one did hurt more than my previous two, (my chest and back are much squishier than my wrist!), but I really feel like if you want a tattoo, go get a tattoo. The pain lasts such a short while compared to how much you'll love the piece of art that you'll have on your body forever.

As always, I've popped this into the 'tattoos' category on my blog, so feel free to have a scroll through that if you missed any of my previous run-downs of my tattoos! I had my next design priced today, and it's going to be between £100-120, which is double what I've paid for a single tattoo so far, so it'll definitely be a little while before my next, but as usual, I am excited already!

I made a cute TikTok of our tattoo experience, and you can watch that here!
