tattoo #13 - 'unapologetically'

Tattoo 13 - the lucky 13, if you're a Taylor Swift fan, (it's actually not a Taylor tattoo this time though lol), is pretty special because it's my last tattoo before our wedding reception next month, so you can definitely tell it was one of my priorities that I wanted to appear in those stunning professional wedding photos.

This blog post will likely be short as I don't have a lot to say about it, but I absolutely love this tattoo and it means a lot to me. It says the word 'unapologetically' in a cursive font inspired by the album cover behind this tattoo.

Kelsea Ballerini is one of my favourite Country artists that I've listened to for 5+ years now, and I'd been thinking for quite a while about a tattoo I could get to signify my love for her and her music. I thought I'd get something from her poetry book, Feel Your Way Through, (I still might), which I highly recommend if you haven't read it - it was one of my favourite books last year. but while I was putting our wedding playlist together for our DJ and I was listening to some of my older favourite songs to make sure I didn't miss any, I came across Kelsea Ballerini's 2017 album, Unapologetically, and I still knew all the words and it made me feel as happy as it did back then. Kelsea might be in her new era, but I'm still unapologetically in love with this one.

If you know me in real life then you already know this, but I've definitely been on a personal growth journey for the past year or two - I really feel like I've found myself, and I'm learning about setting and upholding my boundaries, valuing myself higher, being kinder to myself, knowing my worth by distancing myself from negative people, and manifesting a happy, positive life for myself - completely unapologetically. I'm the happiest I've been in a long time, and I'm really proud of myself for creating a life that I love, without thinking about, or caring about what that looks like to others or what they think about it.

Kelsea's title song is actually a love song about falling in love with her now husband, Morgan Evans, (who I also listen to and I'm going to his London gig this year and I'm SO excited about it), it's about falling in love with someone quickly, and knowing that everyone around you will tell you that it won't last, and that you're being careless with your heart, but not caring because you're happy. For me, the tattoo is about being 'unapologetically all in' for myself, and 'unapologetically in love' with my vision for my life. She once said in an interview that she had meant for it to be a 'big girl sassy anthem', but it ended up being a love song instead because she'd just met Morgan and was falling for him - so I think I accidentally applied the original meaning of the song, to my tattoo and to my life, which is kinda cool.

"I had the word 'Unapologetically' in my phone, and I thought it was going to be a big girl sassy anthem," Ballerini revealed, during an interview with Andi Summers from 92.5 XTU in Philadelphia "but that just wasn't where I was at in my life, and we made it a love song. It's one of the first ever proper love songs I've ever written."

It's along my outer left forearm, aligned with my lightning bolt tattoo, (my first ever tattoo!), and I love that they line up. I like that it's on the outside of my arm as it means that I'll see it more visibly when I walk past mirrors or lean my arm up against something, and it'll be a good reminder to keep being myself and doing things the way that I want to. I have a tattoo on my inner right forearm, but hadn't really considered getting anything on my outer forearms until now, but I love it and I might have to design something for my right outer forearm!

This one took literally ten minutes so it was one of my fastest tattoos ever. It only hurt during the very last second of it, but considering the first thing that hurt was right at the end, I'm very happy about it!

Maly did such a beautiful job, (as always!), and she was also really great at being a friend during it - I was convinced that it was going to hurt a lot due to the boney placement but discussing Pretty Little Liars and all of its many plotholes perfectly put my mind at ease!

I do know what tattoos 14 and 15 are, (one of them is another Kelsea Ballerini tattoo!), I just haven't booked them in yet so stick around for those if you like tattoo content!

As always, I've popped this into the 'tattoos' category on my blog, so feel free to have a scroll through that if you missed any of my previous run-downs of my tattoos.
