Skincare Favourites

Updated: Oct 10, 2020

A few posts ago, I spoke about my favourite make up and beauty items. I truly love make up, I think it's incredibly fun and I love expressing myself through it. I will be the first person to chew your ear off about how much I adore my glitter eyeshadow or my blinding ships-can-use-my-face-as-navigation highlighters.

However, when we have that much fun with make up, we also have to be mindful of our skin underneath it all. The following products help me to do that. As always, everything mentioned is Cruelty Free.

P.S. I'm wearing 'Set in Stones' by Essie on my nails in the product photos, if any of you also wear glitter year round like I do.

Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish

I've actually used this on and off for years, but I have really been enjoying it again recently.

It's incredibly simple to use, removes my make up instantly and leaves my skin feeling super soft and refreshed. I apply one pump of it to my skin and gently massage it into my face, before soaking one of the muslin cloths (included or can be bought separately) in warm water and using it to rinse away the cream. I actually like to double cleanse with this, a) because it's so good for your skin to remove your make up the first time, and then really cleanse the skin afterwards, massive thanks to Melanie Murphy (around 3 mins) for making me aware of this and b) simply to prolong the pampering hot cloth experience.

It's probably the only cleanser that I feel confident enough to use to remove my eye make up because I know that it's so gentle and doesn't sting or cause any redness at all. It also doesn't leave the skin feeling oily or leave any residue behind like some cleansers can. As it's a cream, it definitely feels more nourishing than oily.

Liz Earle have brought out so many different gorgeous scents of this and I remember being very fond of the Limited Edition Sweet Orange and Mint fragrance a few years ago. I'm currently using the Lavendar and Rose which smells so fresh, and I find it very relaxing when removing my make up in the evenings. Although, I am trying my hardest to remember to remove my make up as soon as I come home because I know it's better for my skin. I'm still working on it.

Simple 'Protect 'n' Glow' SPF 30 Moisturiser

This is a new product in my collection, but I absolutely love it. I've mentioned in previous posts how important it is for us to use SPF on our skin, but this product actually triple protects from UVA/B, Blue Light, and Pollution, which is an incredible ask of one single moisturiser. Simple states that it 'helps to prevent premature skin damage and boosts skin's anti-oxidants by 90% for radiant skin'. As with all Simple products, it contains absolutely no harsh chemicals, colourings, alcohol or perfumes, which makes it such a lovely product to use. One that truly works wonders without making a fuss about it. I highly recommend.

Simple Biodegradable Cleansing Wipes

Yes, I just spoke about how much I love my Liz Earle cleanser, but let's be honest, we have all had evenings where we just want to reach for the make up wipes. On the occasion that I want to do that, I recommend these because they are kind to your skin, while also being kinder to the planet. We know that so many facial wipes end up in landfill, or even worse, flushed down the toilet.

However, Simple states that these are made from 'sustainably sourced wood pulp and renewable plant fibres', and 'break down in just 42 days in compost.'

So if you are going to reach for a pack of facial wipes, choose a pack that chooses Planet Earth.

Sanctuary Spa 1 Minute Daily Glow Mask

Over the Christmas holidays, I actually managed to find this mask in a mini gift set along with two other Sanctary Spa face masks for £6 reduced from £15. SIX pounds. Christmas bargain brag aside, this is a glorious product. I've never actually seen a mask which only needs to be applied for 60 seconds, but if you're a bit lazy like me, this is very appealing. Sanctuary actually advertise it as a 'pre-shower' mask because you apply it to dry skin, and then apply a few drops of water to activate the ingredients - which include 'radiance boosting Kakadu Plum, brightening Vitamin C & nutrient rich Rosemary extract', giving the skin instant luminosity. Due to all of the Vitamin C goodness, the mask is a pretty bright neon orange colour and if that doesn't wake you up for the day, I'm not sure what will.

You're truly only a minute away from glowing skin with this.
