Coming up to a year and a half ago now, I made the switch to natural aluminium free deodorant - which I wrote about here

In that blog post, I wrote about discovering the brand Native and how well it worked for me, which is still absolutely true. However, during lockdown, I became plagued with adverts for 'Wild', a natural aluminium free deodorant which is both made in the UK, and entirely environmentally friendly. The next thing I knew, I was making a purchase because I had to give it a go.

As much as I love Native, two things I didn't like were a) the shipping time from the US, and b) the fact that I had to throw away the twist-up bar plastic packaging and repurchase new ones every few months. Wild had solutions to these issues!

(Amazing news! A few days into testing Wild and writing this blog post, Native went plastic free, and are now offering recyclable cardboard packaging instead so make sure to click 'switch to plastic free' on your Native account, like I have.)

As I already live in the UK, shipping was both fast and free, and with Wild, you make a one-time purchase of a case, (as well as choose your colour - of course I went for the peach and rose gold because that's my aesthetic), and then you buy your recyclable/compostable refills in your chosen scent, so you only ever need to buy one deodorant case. I chose the scent 'Coconut Dream', which is a vanilla and coconut mix, as we all know that's my favourite. Their website also states that Coconut Dream is made using only the base ingredients so if you're worried about being allergic to any of the fragrances, this one would be best. (Unfortunately, I did get a rash on my left underarm on Day 12 of using Wild - but I think it's just because my body is so used to Native!)

Wild have multiple purchasing options, and I would advise paying attention to these so that you don't accidentally end up with a subscription that you don't want. As this was my first time trying out the brand, I went for the one time £25 option which is where you get one case, and 3 refills in a scent of your choice.

The 'subscribe and save' option will be best for you if you're already a massive fan - if you choose this, you spend £12 for one case and one refill, and then adjust your subscription according to how often you want to receive refills.

As shown in the photo of the box above, there are instructions on how to use your reusable case, and fit the refills into it. It's as simple as releasing the bottom of the deodorant case, squeezing the refill gently, (to unstick the deodorant from its bamboo pulp case), sliding the refill into the case, before closing it back up, and twisting the base a few times anti-clockwise. I found these really easy to follow and had absolutely no issues, which is positive!

The long and short of it: I've been using my Wild deodorant for just over two weeks now, and I do like it. I feel like it keeps me smelling fresh throughout the day to the same extent that my Native one does. However, I personally prefer the 'Coconut and Vanilla' Native scent, as I feel like it's a lot sweeter compared to the slightly more subtle 'Coconut Dreams' by Wild.

I absolutely love having a deodorant case which I do not have to throw away, and love the idea of having entirely recyclable refills. This brand is ticking so many boxes, and I highly recommend them if you're looking to switch.

Before you do, I would advise that you read my original post on my Experience with Switching to Natural Deodorant, as I talk a lot about the science behind why this is a good idea.

Finally, if you have decided that you'd like to switch to Wild, if you use my link below, you will receive 20% off of your first Wild order, and I will also receive 20% of my refills, so it's a win win!
