Planning our Wedding Reception ♡

Sequel wedding, anni-ception, night do - there are now so many different names for a wedding which takes place over the space of a year - a mini ceremony with a very limited number of guests, and then a bigger wedding reception which features all of the typical wedding evening activities one year later, usually on or around the couple's one year anniversary. At the time of writing, we are currently 21 days away from our wedding reception, (it'll be less than two weeks away by the time this post goes up!!), and considering that by the time of our anniception, we will have been waiting for it for 1042 days since our engagement - 21 days is SO incredibly close!

I was reading some of my blog posts from last year when I was planning our wedding ceremony, and I noticed that I mentioned some of the things I was super excited about for this wedding, and I thought I would do a little post with updates on how I'm feeling about them now/if anything is different to how I thought it would be! I'm only going to mention things that I've already hinted at in the past, the rest will remain a surprise!

In this blog post, I mentioned that I was sad that we couldn't have our sparkler exit as our ceremony ended at 6pm so we opted for a bubble exit instead, and how I was so looking forward to doing the sparkler exit that we wanted this year. I absolutely love how the bubble gun photos came out, but I'm still so super excited for how fun this will be, and all of the beautiful photos that can come out of an exit like this when a wedding actually ends at midnight and it's dark outside, so I'm definitely still looking forward to it!

In that same blog post, I mentioned that I was excited that I would get to wear my wedding dress twice - that's actually not the case for our sequel wedding, (although there's nothing stopping me wearing it on future anniversaries if I want to!), but I did ultimately decide that I wanted to wear something sleeker and sexier for our wedding reception, and I'm completely in love with the new dress and how it looks so I'm pretty pumped about it. It also meant that I had the opportunity to have the stereotypical wedding dress shopping experience this time, which I didn't get the first time as I ordered my dress via click and collect and then tried it on, loved it, and took it home. This time involved going into the boutique, trying on 5 dresses, and giving my stylist feedback on what I liked and disliked about the designs until we could whittle it down to my 'the one'. It was such a lovely experience, so I'm really happy that I gave myself that. I'm also so thrilled that I was able to use the same bridal hair and make up company that I used last time, (Storme Hair and Makeup), but with a different stylist this time - I met Melissa for my bridal trial a few months ago and she is the loveliest person ever, she did such a beautiful job with both my hair and make up, and we have a lot in common so she instantly felt like a friend - I can't wait to see her again!

I then spoke about how excited I was for our first dance at our reception since we weren't allowed to dance at our ceremony due to covid restrictions, (although the stars did align and we did have a sneaky first dance at our wedding, which you can read about here), but we are having an official first dance 2.0 with a different song this time, so it's definitely incredibly exciting! We recently finished our 5 by 5 song lists (5 songs in the wedding e.g cake cutting etc, 5 songs the bride wants to dance to, 5 songs the groom wants to dance to, 5 songs the bride and groom want to dance to together, and 5 songs that our VIP guests would like to dance to), and it was so exciting - I'm so looking forward to an evening of dancing and celebrating. We're finally getting to work with the DJ that we booked years ago, and then ultimately had to cancel on - we were so thrilled when we found out he was still available for our belated reception! We're also working with the same florist as last year, and we're actually using one of her new additions to her product line that she offers, so we're very excited about that. As well as this, we've gone with Mally's Crafts again for our signage and all of it fits our theme so perfectly, it's so pretty.

We are so so excited to work with all of our vendors, both old and new, especially as one of my best friends and bridesmaids is making our cake this year - we absolutely love having someone so close to us be such a big part of our wedding, as we did last year with Faye who made all of our acrylic designs. It's such a special thing to do.

Eeeee, that's it for now! I think this will be the last blog post that goes up prior to the wedding, but I will likely put up a post reflecting on all of the wedding details once the night has come and gone like I did last year, so there will still be at least one more wedding post around these parts! ♡
