Dessert Island Dishes

Updated: Oct 10, 2020

One of my favourite things to do at the moment is dessert hopping. One of my best friends and I have gone wandering into London on the hunt for sweet treats a few times, now. First of all, it's so much fun to just walk around with the mere aim of wanting to find something delicious. Second of all, the delicious treats never let us down.

Crumbs and Doilies

Crumbs and Doilies is probably the dessert shop which I've bought the largest range of treats from including their; mini and full size cupcakes, birthday cake cookie, and their slutty brownie.

I love that they offer mini cupcakes for if you're just looking to try a new flavour for the first time, or you want to try out loads of different flavours at once.

Pictured above is the regular cookie dough cupcake which tastes like actual heavenly cookie dough, and below are the tiny but incredible mini cookies and cream, and cereal milk cupcakes. Their hot chocolate and teas are also amazing!

My favourite item that I've tried here has to be the birthday cake cookie. It's a beautifully crumbly cookie with glorious chunks of white chocolate emerged into it. Not just a pretty, multi-coloured face.

Their menu changes everyday which is an exciting touch, but be sure to check out @crumbsanddoilie_soho on Instagram where they upload their daily menu, so you can check ahead of time if your favourite is available!

Creme

Creme. The home of really big cookies. These are some of the most incredibly indulgent cookies which are soft, gooey and melt in the mouth.

My favourite is the classic milk chocolate cookie, but they also do a lot of other gorgeous flavours such as the white chocolate miso, and double chocolate.

They also sell soft serve for those of us who love a little cream with our cookies.

The only downside is that the store doesn't have much seating room, but they're still absolutely worth a try and would brighten up any train journey home.

In the store, they also have these little cards which tell you how to heat up your cookies at home. I've both devoured them right at the moment at purchase, and warmed them up at home. Trust me, they're absolutely delicious either way.

Milk Train

I've only been to Milk Train once but I absolutely want to go back again soon. They're known for their famous ice cream cones surrounded by candy floss, but I went for a simple cookies and cream ice cream cup. It was filled with vanilla ice cream, oreos, cookie crisp and a lovely smothering of chocolate sauce.

An absolute dream. Just look at it.

The Hummingbird Bakery

When it comes to pretty cupcake design, I'm not sure that many places can achieve what Hummingbird Bakery does. This is just one of the stunning cupcakes that they designed in honour of London Fashion Week. Never in my life did I think anyone could combine my two favourite treats so flawlessly: red velvet and cheesecake, but they absolutely achieved it.

Their buttercream frosting is so sweet and indulgent on every single cupcake, across all flavours. My favourite is the black bottom cupcake which is made of chocolate sponge with a cheesecake centre and cream cheese frosting. If you get anything after this reading this blog post, I 100% recommend that you go try one of these.

I'm 99% sure my fiancé and I are going to buy our wedding cake here, watch this space.

What's your favourite dessert shop?! xo
