Current Favourites - July '21

I was having a look through my posts, and realised I haven't done a standard run-of-the-mill favourites post for about 4 months, which is crazy, because it's kind of what I started blogging about way back in 2019, so that's what I'm bringing you today. I think it's mainly because I haven't been purchasing a lot of new make up/accessories etc, because I haven't needed them, but now that lockdown is easing, it's time to step up my style game again.

Let's start with some jewellery - you might have noticed that I included a photo of my newly tidied bedside table in last week's post, and while I know I didn't include 'before' photos, (trust me, I did you a favour), I can tell you that the main cause of all of the mess was me throwing jewellery around - either in or outside of their boxes, (too many boxes piled up is still a problem!) Now that we're starting to spend more time away from home - starting with this weekend to see my in-laws, which I'm so excited about - I thought it was time that I bought myself a little travel jewellery case, which can a) sit cutely on my bedside table when I'm at home, and house all of my current favourites, but also b) be packed into my bag when I travel, as opposed to me taking a range of jewellery boxes that the jewellery arrived in, and then struggling to find them all at the bottom of my bag.

I absolutely adore this one from Lisa Angel, in all of its velvet, cosmic glory. It's particularly perfect as a lot of my jewellery is cosmic themed, which leads me on nicely...

I recently treated myself to two new pieces of jewellery when payday rolled around. One of them is this gorgeous pair of mismatched earrings from We Are Lucent, (previously Eclectic Eccentricity.) I've been obsessed with this store for coming up to 6 years now, and I think this is the first item I've purchased since their rebrand. I love the ray of sunshine on one earring, and the moon on the other - I absolutely adore that they're mismatched because it means that I get the best of both worlds! I have some adorable cosmic studs which would look lovely alongside these in my second lobe piercing, once I've had it re-pierced because it has very sadly healed over itself.

I was scrolling through Etsy recently and I found Constellation Co Jewellery's adorable store, filled with cosmic earrings and necklaces. I totally fell in love with this one as it comes in rose gold, and it features a sparkly saturn and moon. I originally had it bookmarked to buy one for a bestie who I knew would love it, and then I ended up getting one for myself, too because it was too gorgeous to pass up. Cally is also just a lovely person - I follow her on all of her socials, and she's so sweet. You all know how much I love to shout-out small businesses, so there's a new recommendation for you!

So one of these things is not like the others, and it's absolutely this one. We saw this rose gold letter holder while we were browsing around Homesense the other day, and it was so cute and affordable that we had to get it. I love it because it's small enough to fit on what small amount of space we have on our kitchen countertop, but large enough that it can hold quite a number of letters. We use it for our 'new in' mail, to stay organised and keep everything from ending up in a pile on the sofa that we never sift through. Speaking of homeware, an honourable mention goes to this gorgeous carafe from Anthropologie. It hasn't arrived yet, but it's so pretty - think of all beautiful summer drinks are going to look in this!

So speaking of that 'walking around Homesense' trip, we ended up doing around 10,000 steps, which is absolutely crazy, but honestly if you've met Stephen and I, and you know how much we love homeware - it's not that surprising. The problem with it is that I didn't anticipate a long trip, and so I wore cute, but ultimately, very unsupportive Summer sandals, and I think I pinched a nerve in my left foot. It has thankfully healed now, but I've discovered that you can wear comfy trainers, that are still super adorable?! These butterfly print ones are from Boohoo, they were super affordable, and they're so comfortable and cute. I love them. BRB - spending my summer in my comfy girl era.

Something else I've really loved lately is the Urban Decay Tinted Hydrator. I bought it in store, and used their virtual shade matcher, and I have to say that it matched me absolutely perfectly. An assistant did come over just to double check, and they approved the match as well, so if you're wanting to buy anything from Urban Decay, but you're worried about it because of the removal of testers, I can recommend this one because it does work - I wear shade 50, if anyone would find that useful! I love it because it makes my skin look super luminous and healthy, without being too much as I tend to gravitate more towards tinted moisturisers, and this works for me because it is quite lightweight, but you could totally build it up if you want more coverage. I found that I was losing a bunch of my self-esteem because I'd spent quite a few days in a row with my hair in a messy bun, and in pyjamas all day because I work from home. It can be super damaging if that's the only way you see yourself, so I got dressed up last Thursday, just to sit at home and work, (and have a photoshoot in the garden, obviously.) I'm wearing the tinted hydrator in those photos so you can see what it looks like.

As I've mentioned before, I love tattoos and will probably continue to get them for the rest of my life, so when I stumbled upon this Tattoo Goo kit in Superdrug, I thought it was such a great idea. It comes with the standard lotion/salve that you can find in a tattoo studio, but it also comes with a specialist approved tattoo soap, and an SPF 30 which is specifically for tattoos, (AFTER they've healed - just to be super clear on that), - I've been looking for something like this forever, as this is my first Summer as a tattooed person, and while standard SPFs will work I'm sure, it's nice to have one which is made especially for what you want it for.

While in Superdrug, I also found this absolutely gorgeous cornflower blue nail polish by Nails Inc. It's from their cruelty free, vegan range, which is always fantastic. I've had two sets of acrylic nails back to back for 2 months straight, so while I'm taking a break for a few weeks, this will be the colour I paint my natural nails. It's so vibrant and pretty, and reminds me of our wedding colours. It's called 'Soul Surfing', which is the cutest name.

While we were wedding planning, I came across the idea where the bride buys a 'wedding day' perfume, that you wear to all of the wedding events in the run up to the big day, as well as on the day, and then after the wedding, you'll remember what a beautiful day you had every time you wear it. I went for the Kayali Vanilla 28 perfume, and it's my absolute favourite. If you had to bottle up my personality, I feel like this is what that would smell like. It's sweet from the vanilla, but also rich from the brown sugar and tonka, so it's quite layered, and not too sickeningly sweet at all. It kind of smells like a home-baked cookies, and I cannot get enough of it. The packaging is also absolutely gorgeous with the white and rose gold motif, so it was perfectly fitting for our wedding, as well as my overall vibe, in general. I'm 100% going to repurchase it for the rest of my life.

Finally, speaking about our wedding, I recently ordered this personalised photo album from SecretCreation on Etsy, and it is so stunning that I could cry. We spent a few hours choosing 200 of our favourite wedding photos, to place in the photo album, and to frame and put up around the flat. It was the most fun, and now that we've collected the photos too, I can tell you that there is something SO satisfying about having physical photos that we can hold, and look through whenever we want. It makes it real, and all of the photos are so much more beautiful as prints. I cannot wait to display it on a coffee table when we have a large enough flat to do that, and for guests to come over and peruse our wedding album. How exciting is that?!

Hope you enjoyed a much more light-hearted post this week! xo
