Cosy Autumn Ideas - 50th Blog Post!

At the time of writing, the clocks just went back which means that while there will be more light in the mornings, which I love, it will be darker faster in the evenings - and so we will absolutely need some cosy tips.

Cosy Lighting and Scents

In my last blog post, I mentioned my new love for my Cinnamon Pumpkin candle from YR studio, which I recently discovered. It is absolutely perfect - the throw on it is so incredible that you can even smell it with its unlit and you walk past it. It's sweet but not sickeningly so, and it has the right amount of cinnamon spice to make it warm and Autumnal. I also really want their 'Cosy and Warm' candle in the 'Chocolate and Vanilla Cookies' scent and am planning on treating myself to it for mine and Stephen's 5 year anniversary next month. How delicious does that sound?!

I also recently bought this cute 'Boo' light from Sainsburys, pictured here with some more of my Autumnal calligraphy, and it's the perfect little lamp to have on the coffee table while we're watching scary movies.

Pyjama Party

As I've lived in a shielding household since March, it's become second nature to take off my 'outside' clothes and hop in the shower immediately to limit the risk of you-know-what, but if that's not something you do already, now is the time! One of my cousins-in-law recently sent me a gift of the Lush 'sleepy' range, and it's the best way to relax after a long day - our current flat doesn't have a bath, but a lavender scented shower is just as serene.

There's also something so wonderful about changing out of your work clothes and spending the rest of the evening in your pyjamas. Yes, mine have little cats hopping out of gift boxes on the trousers because that's the kind of person I am. Bring on Christmas.

Skincare & Face Masks

I know that you're supposed to take off your make up immediately as you arrive home because it's way better for your skin, but let's be honest - it always ends up being the last thing I do before bed. However, especially in Autumn, it's really nice to get into this habit so that as soon as you're thoroughly freaked out by whichever horror film you just watched, all you have left to do is brush your teeth and climb into bed! I have a whole blog post on my Skincare Favourites, but I still love the Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish, and the Sanctuary Face Masks. Recently, I tried out the Simple 48 Hour Glow Sheet Mask, and that was really lovely, too!

Favourite Hot Drinks at the Ready

Mine is the Cadburys Options Belgian Hot Chocolate, mixed with a few scoops of Milo. Milo is a chocolate and malt powder which is very popular in the West Indies, where my family is from so it's what I grew up drinking as a child. I love mixing it into my ordinary hot chocolates even now because it contains iron and a number of other nourishing minerals, which I love because I'm prone to anaemia, so a little bit of nutrition with my cosy drink can only be a good thing.

Movie Night

I absolutely love a movie night, any time of the year but especially when it starts to get colder. We move the blankets/duvet to the sofa, curl up with our hot drinks and snacks, and essentially settle in for the night. I recently watched 'Onward' on Disney+ and it was the most precious film, you MUST watch it if you haven't yet. Other notable films I/we've enjoyed recently are 'The Quiet Place', 'Bird Box', and 'Rebecca'.

Thank You

I can't believe this is my 50th blog post, I'm actually finding that thought insane. I started this blog last year because I was finding my job incredibly stressful, and I wanted to focus more on something I enjoyed on the weekends. Saturday became my writing day and I started scheduling posts for 3pm on a Monday, and it's been that way for the entire 50 posts. I'm so proud of myself for actually keeping up with it and never missing a week! I genuinely love writing about fashion and beauty etc, and it's an area of my life which I think I do know a little bit about. If you've read every single post, or if this is your first one, thank you! I write for fun, but I really think that this blog has helped my mental health a lot, especially during the dumpster truck that is 2020. Thank you so much ❤
