Christmas Candles & New In Haul

There isn't much in the world which makes me as happy as a candle, especially in the Winter months. They're practically a part of my self-care routine, as they make me feel cosy and warm. We recently fell in love with the small business, YR Studio, which I've mentioned in a few posts previously, so we obviously returned to them for our Christmas candle fix.

When it comes to Christmassy scents, Stephen is more of an orange, clove, and Winter spices lover, whereas I love a sweeter 'just made Christmas cookies' kind of scent. Luckily for us, both of our needs were met by YR Studio.

I decided on 'Cozy Christmas' which has the gorgeously warming scent of 'freshly baked ginger butter biscuits with sweet spicy notes of cinnamon, clove and vanilla.'

On the other hand, Stephen went for 'Winter Wonderland' which is described as having 'Spicy notes of cinnamon & clove with fruity top notes of orange and tangerine'.

We managed to put off burning them until December finally hit, but it was a massive struggle for me. We broke the seal on the first of our Winter Warmers on Saturday evening, and it was divine. We're definitely going to take one, (or both), of them to my Mum's as we're spending Christmas with her, this year.

As well as candles, I treated myself to two new make up items this month and I thought I would add them on to this blog post as kind of a 'new in' haul. If you know me personally, then you know that I much prefer drugstore make up, as it's what I've used for pretty much the entirety of my make up using life, and I genuinely believe that I have found such gems for such affordable prices over the years.

Wet N Wild has been one of my favourite brands for exactly this reason for a long time, and some of their new items have finally arrived in the UK.

I also wanted to mention my new nails here, as you'll see them in the photos for these items anyway, but I am absolutely in love with them. They were done at Amy Nails Reading, (of course), and the mix of rhinestones, gold leaf, and gold moon and star sequins make this the absolute prettiest nails I have ever seen, let alone a set that I've had done for myself. Obsessed.

Back to the make up, I picked up the new 'Primefocus Hydrating Primer Serum', and I love it. It smells like quite a strong floral perfume when it's in the bottle, but is entirely scentless when it's applied to the face which is very cool, and important for people like me who can't handle strongly fragranced make up products. The primer itself is a pretty pink colour but it doesn't translate pink on the skin when applied, nor do the shimmer particles which can be seen in the bottle.

The back of the bottle describes it as a 'hydrating water-based serum formulated with Rose Water and Green Tea Extract, refines and nourishes as it preps and primes skin for extended make up wear.'

I find it very hydrating, and it's definitely more of an oil than a thick serum primer, which I've never used before. It feels a little like just applying water to your face, so it's definitely weightless, but I do think it makes my make up look dewier and more luminous, so it works for me! I've also not used anything with a pipette in its packaging before, but I really like it as it helps me to portion it out and avoid using too much.

Finally, I picked up the shade 'Bellini Overflow' in the MegaLast Shine Lipstick. These have been around for absolutely forever, but they've recently revamped the packaging to include the gorgeous rose gold lips detail, and I think that's honestly what drew me to the product. So pretty!

I love how glossy the finish is, and that's as someone who doesn't stray too far from matte liquid lipsticks very often, but I really like how high shine this lipstick is, without being sticky or messy at all. It just glides straight on, and is described to be 'enriched with Murumuru Butter, Mango Butter, and Sunflower and Watermelon Seed Oils to nourish lips', which sounds like an incredible bonus. It isn't the most Wintery colour, but I definitely see myself picking up a few more, as they're so comfortable, last a super long time and they have such gorgeous colours!
