There are two places on most high streets that I just cannot ignore. Book stores and stationery stores. Sometimes I'm lucky enough to find a WH Smith so that I can peruse cute notebooks, while checking the price of the latest Margaret Atwood book at the same time.
However, my ultimate love this year has been Paperchase - likely because my local branch is closing down, and the massive sale has brought me some gorgeous finds at bargain prices. Let's be real though, I was in there all the time, anyway.
My two favourite items to collect are pens and notebooks. If it's glittery, fluffy, or has a cute 'good karma club' slogan on it, I'm all over it. If you're someone that does a lot of writing at work, a funky pen is the best way to spruce up a desk, and make writing fun.
I always feel like Cher from Clueless when I use this one, and who doesn't want to feel like that? *signs a legal document in pink glitter gel pen*
As I mentioned in my 'about me' post, I teach English Literature. I'm very lucky to say that due to my job, I'm often gifted stationery items as friends know how useful they are to me (and how fast they run out, or go 'missing')
However, teaching is the kind of job that is so easy to fall behind in, especially when you desperately don't want to. In order to combat that, I love my personalised teacher notebook from Pirongs. It has a lesson and homework planner, as well as marksheet pages so that I can easily track my students' grades. I absolutely love that it's A5, so that it isn't too large and bulky. Most schools do their own teacher planners, but I love a bit of personalisation in my life.
I also find it fun to add these cute stickers on some of the pages of my planner. I've planned all of next week's lessons already? That's a 'high five' sticker on that page. Saturday? 'chilled'.
This is probably the prettiest notebook I've ever seen. I love the bright yellow colour. Finally a notebook which is as happy to see me as I am to see it. Anyone who knows me knows that an optimistic 'the future is happy' notebook was absolutely going to go straight in my basket. I originally bought this notebook for a fellow Hufflepuff as a birthday present, and then decided to pick one up for myself because I just couldn't leave it. I absolutely adore the holographic print which changes colour depending on how it catches the light. Since I was in the market for a new notebook to use as my grateful diary anyway, this was absolutely perfect.
One of my favourite finds this year has been this agenda, which I actually found in Homesense. The stunning 50/50 marble and pink cover, with the rose gold lettering is basically my personality in an agenda. Inside, it has a lovely slogan for every month, a monthly planner and an overview page with a section for 'to do list', 'goals' and 'birthdays'. This is the first year where I've used a personal agenda like this one, and I adored using it so much. As I have a separate teacher planner for work, I mostly used this one for events with friends and planning date nights, which I love because all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.
If you're in Reading and looking for a gift for a fellow stationery lover this Christmas, head down to Paperchase for some marvellous deals. (Not an ad - although, I wish)
